A Stand Up Job

I was walking on The Strip last night and saw a billboard about Jay Leno performing. I counted the days/dates on my fingers and realized that yesterday was one of those days. Dang. I wish I'd known. I kept walking and I saw another ad at the casino where he was going to perform. It was still early and I thought - "Teri, when you buy a single tickert to an event, even at the last minute, you always get a good seat - go check." I did and I did. Three hours before the show and I scored a 10th row seat. (Remember Air Supply?)

Jay is a class act. He has has a wide range of topics, picks a few sexy ones, but never crosses the line into vulgarity. L.A., family, showbusiness, marriage, obesity, pets.

I think know why they give him a 3x5 stage area for The Tonight Show. He moves fast and covers a lot of real estate on the stage when he's doing stand up. The space on the show must be to "contain" him.

It was a great show and I'm glad I checked. I can now add Leno to my list of great comedians that I've seen: Rita Rudner, Richard Lewis. I'd still like to catch David Brenner and Drew Carey some time.
